Abstract
675,268. Valve amplifying circuits. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and MACKENZIE, T. H. June 1, 1949 [May 26, 1948], No. 14226/48. Class 40 (vi). A D.C. amplifier of the type in which appropriate fractions of input and output voltages are combined in a resistor network and the combination fed to the input electrode of the first valve of the amplifier, the negative feedback serving to correct the scale error of the amplifier, is provided with an auxiliary D.C. amplifier in the connection between the resistor network and the input electrode which serves to correct any tendency of the zero point of the main amplifier to depart from zero. As shown the main amplifier comprises valves V1 and V2 coupled by a battery 14 and with a feed-back connection leading to resistors 7 and 8. Connected to the junction of these resistors is an auxiliary amplifier 16 utilizing two synchronized switches 22 and 23 to convert the input to valve 16 to A.C. and reconvert its output to D.C. The latter is connected to the input electrode of valve V1. A condenser 9 is interposed between this point and the main point 5 for the whole apparatus. The output appears across resistance 4 at terminal 3. Specification 622,491 is referred to.
