Abstract
681,344. Valve amplifying circuits. VACKAR, J., and KLIKA, V. Oct. J, 1948, No. 25612/48. Class 40 (vi). An amplifier is provided with a voltage divider connected to the output terminals which supplies a voltage which in the absence of distortion would be equal in amplitude and phase to the input voltage, the difference of these two voltages, consisting of the distortion, being phase-inverted and added to the input. In this way the distortion is reduced without restricting the amplification. As shown, a voltage divider R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP> is connected across the output of a resistance-coupled amplifier V<SP>1</SP>, V2, and arranged to provide a potential at point A<SP>1</SP>, differing only by an amount due to the distortion, from the potential at point A, the ratio R<SP>1</SP> + R<SP>2</SP> being equal to the total amplification, R<SP>2</SP> and the distortion is fed back to the grid through a phase-inverting transformer Tr, which may step up the voltage, or through an auxiliary valve, Fig. 5 (not shown). By this means distortion may also be reduced in a two-stage push-pull amplifier, Fig. 2 (not shown), a single stage push-pull amplifier, Fig. 3 (not shown), and a single stage amplifier, Fig. 4 (not shown). Specification 495,943 is referred to.
