Abstract

1,048,200. Pneumatic conveyers. F. REITERER and L. WINDISCH. June 9, 1964 [June 11, 1963], No. 23865/64. Heading B8A. [Also in Division D1] A fan 2, Fig. 2, for the pneumatic conveyance of fibrous material is housed in a volute casing 5 having a tangentially arranged outlet 12 for the air-entrained fibres, which are introduced to the fan 2 between feeder rolls 9 at a point on the outer periphery of the casing 5 which is angularly spaced from the outlet 12. The fan impeller is surrounded by a perforated ring 3 attached to the tips of the blades and having toothed projections 4 which produce a disentangling and carding action on the fibres. Inwardly projecting teeth may also be provided on the volute casing to provide a shredding action. A grid 10 may be disposed under the outlet 12 for the release of foreign materials. The pneumatically conveyed material supplied to the fan through duct 6 is collected on a rotary cylindrical filter 7 and fed to the feed rollers 9 on the surface of the filter while the air by-passes the filter for axial entry to the centre of the fan 2.
