BLOWER.
Application led November 20, 1919.
To all whom it may concern.' y
Be it known that I, ALBERT DAIGNAULT, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at St. Mathias, Province of Quebec,
Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Blowers; and l do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The present invention relates to a blower or elevator for lifting straw or the like, whereby the straw may be elevated sol as to be placed upon stacks or blown within the loft of the barn.
An object of the present invention is .to provide a strong, durable and efficient device of this character which may be easily and readily transported from place to place and one which will be comparatively inexpensive in the cost of manufacture.
With the above and other objects in view which will hereinafter appear as the description continues, the invention consists of the novel features of construction, combina-y tion and formation of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawings has been shown a simple and preferred form of the invention, it being, however, understood that no limitation is necessarily made to the precise structural details herein exhibited, but the right is hereby reserved to any changes,
alterations or modifications to which recourse may be had that come within the scope of the claim without departing from the spirit of the invention or sacrificing the` efficiency of the same.
In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 is a side elevation of the apparatus embodying the present invention;
Figure 2 is a vertical longitudinal section through the same;
Figure 3 is an end elevation; and, Figure 4 is a detail section of the fan. Referring now more particularly to the accompanying drawings wherein like and corresponding parts are designated by similar reference characters throughout "the several views.
The numeral 1 indicates a portable hous- Serial No. 339,351.
ing or casing which comprises a pair of spaced end plates 2, a rear wall 3 and a front wall f1. Supported within these walls of the housing is a cylindrical casing 5 having an outlet 6 which is in communication with a spout 7. Journaled Within the bearings 8 carried by the walls 2 is a shaft 9 and this shaft carries a pair of spaced hubs 10 having formed integral therewith the radially extending spokes 11 each having a longitudinal slot formed at the outer end and in which slots are disposed the blades 12 of the fan. The side walls 2 of the housing are provided with the air inlet openings 13 which lead in to the casing 5. The front wall Al and the casing 5 are provided with aligned inlet openings in which is adapted to rest one end of an endless conveyor 14 and the opposite end of this endless conveyor is supported so that the conveyor will rest on an incline by means o1 the bars 15. Connected to the shaft 9 is a pulley 16 whereby the shaft 9 may be rotated through a suitable source of power and upon the rotation of this shaft the fan will set up a suction within the casing 5, whereby the straw delivered to the fan casing will be blown or elevated through the spout 7.
From the foregoing it is obvious that this device may be transported from place to place and that when straw is drawn upon the conveyor 14, this conveyor will deliver the straw into the casing 5 and when the fan within this casing 5 is set up in motion it will elevate the straw through the spout 7 whereby the straw will be blown upon a stack or may be elevated within a loft or a barn or other suitable building.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
The combination with an inclined endless conveyer, of a blower including a housing comprising a pair of end walls, a front and rear wall connecting the edges of said end walls, a cylindrical casing supported within saidwalls, said casing having inlet and outlet openings arranged in its lower and upper portions respectively, air inlet openin s arranged in said end walls concentrical y of said cylindrical casing, bearings secured to said end walls exteriorly thereof, a shaft journalled in said bearings, a fan carried by said shaft andl rotatable in the direction of the action of said fan, substantially as and the conveyor, and a pair of bars secured to in the manner described. 10 said end Walls and said oonveyer for sup- In Witness whereof I have hereunto set porting the latter in an inclined position, the my hand.
