Abstract
931,673. Forming fibre laps. COTTON, SILK & MAN-MADE FIBRES RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. Feb. 16, 1960 [March 3, 1959], No. 7256/59. Drawings to Specification. Class 120 (1). Apparatus for collecting fibrous material as a lap, comprises a suction cage (which may co-operate with another suction cage rotating in the opposite direction and forming a nip therewith). An air extraction unit is located externally of, and is operative over the whole effective axial length of, part of the cage periphery on one or both sides in such a manner that air flow into and through the cage is evenly distributed over the whole effective axial length of the cage to leave fibres carried thereby deposited on the outer periphery. A stationary arcuate baffle within the first cage causes air to flow more directly to outlet ducting.
