Abstract
1,047,104. Gas blast switches. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. June 28, 1965 [June 26, 1964], No. 27322/65. Heading H2B. A gas blast circuit breaker of kind in which a movable contact 5 is withdrawn into an insulating nozzle 6 through which passes a blast of gas, to extinguish the arc so formed, to a chamber 1 which serves to damp the sound produced, has a closed space 9 surrounding the nozzle 6 which prior to extinction of the arc is filled with compressed gas through a bore 14 thus preventing leakage of switching gases into the space and consequent flash over between the fixed contact 3 and a central metal part 8. After extinction the gas leaves chamber 1 through a narrow vent 2a. In a modification the gas leaves through a valve 16 (Fig. 2, not shown) after passing through a one-way valve 15 and the space 9.
