Abstract

1,046,518. Closures. W. BURKI. July 22, 1963 [July 23, 1962], No. 28916/63. Heading B8T. The delivery orifice of a container from which the contents are caused to extrude by pressure, consists of a perforated resilient diaphragm 21 of rubber-like material secured by glue or welding in an opening in a non-resilient wall 25 of the container, the said opening being of slightly smaller dimensions than the diaphragm to subject the latter to compression forces which act from its periphery towards the perforation 22 and cause the diaphragm to return to its closed position after extrusion of the contents. The edge 26 of the opening may be bulged or the edge 34 (Fig. 7, not shown) of the diaphragm may be inwardly bevelled to subject the diaphragm to greater compression faces. In a modification (Fig. 9, not shown), a marginal zone 48 of one face of the diaphragm is secured to the edge portion of the opening and a recess 43 is provided to reduce the thickness. The diaphragm may be circular or rectangular and the perforation may be star-shaped or in the form of a split or a point.
