Abstract

1,045,277. Winches; tensioning chains; shock - absorbing. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. Aug. 30, 1963 [Sept. 7, 1962], No. 34378/62. Heading B8B. A haulage power unit 19, Fig. 2, for mining machines operating in conjunction with a long wall mine face conveyer 10, is slidably mounted on the side of the conveyer and yieldingly restrained as by an hydraulic ram 29 for limiting the tension in the chain C. The motor 19 is mounted on a carriage 21 having slippers 22 with renewable anti-friction liners movable over parallel guide rails 15. The pump 31 supplying pressure fluid to the ram 29 is driven from the conveyer motor 11 and is associated with a regulable relief valve 33 which determines the ram pressure and cable tension.
