Abstract

At the end of a passage along a mineral face a cutter-carrying plough member 3 is positively pivoted relative to the plough body on which the member 3 is mounted by means 12, 14 connecting the haulage chain 10 to the member so as to cause the previously trailing cutters to be pressed into the newly exposed face before the plough is hauled back along said face. Limitation of pivotal movement of the member 3 and haulage of the plough body is due to the abutment between limit means 17 and 16 on the chains 10, 12 and on the plough body respectively.
