Stuffing-boxes, substitutes for.-In a gas-washer or like apparatus, particularly of the type described in Specifications 2113/09, 5952/10, and 17005/14, [all in Class 55 (ii), Gas manufacture &c], leakage of liquid along the shaft b carrying the rotating fanners is prevented by a disk e keyed to the shaft and incircling the end of a boss c projecting form tho wall a of the apparatus and provided with a peripheral groove d. A groove g in the disk e is filled with acidresisting or other cement.
