Abstract

In a loom having change boxes at both ends, a fresh bobbin released from the magazine drops into a cradle which supports it above the beat-up position of the slay. The depleted shuttle is received in an extra top cell of the change box when replenishment is initiated and is lifted above race level at the next beat-up to receive the fresh bobbin, which is either held stationary by pads fixed on the slay coming over it or is depressed to meet the shuttle by pads pivoted on the slay. The cradle consists of fingers which either yield or are retracted to allow the bobbin to enter the shuttle. The depleted bobbin is ejected through a hopper situated between the extra cell and the normal cells of the box. Weaving is interrupted during replenishment by stopping the dobby for two picks or by turning it backwards on the first pick and allowing it to turn forwards again on the second pick.
