Abstract
1,043,101. Erection of buildings. BRITISH LIFT SLAB Ltd. Jan. 27, 1964, No. 3346/64. Heading E1A. Lift floor slabs 5 are cast about a plurality of concrete columns 4 and positioned by lifting means 10 including a nut (not shown) engaging a screwthreaded member 9 carried by a pivotable cross-head 8. Each nut is disposed in a housing which is secured to the slab by bolts 11 engaging a metal plate 6, 7 embedded in the floor slab. Each nut is rotated by an hydraulic motor mounted on the slab through suitable worm gearing. Preferably each nut is provided with recirculating balls or rollers which engage threads of square form on the member 9. Alternatively winches mounted on the slabs may raise same by means of cables secured to the columns. In a modification the crosshead is non- pivotally coupled to the columns 4 and a plurality of slabs are lifted simultaneously, see Fig. 3 (not shown).
