Abstract

1,042,405. Discharge lamp systems. AMERICAN SPEEDLIGHT CORPORATION. July 23, 1963 [July 27, 1962], No. 29091/63. Heading H2H. A circuit for supplying a discharge lamp 21 such as a xenon lamp with a series of narrow high-amplitude pulses comprises a leakage transformer 6, 7 which resonates within a j certain voltage range with a capacitor 20 which is discharged cyclically to the lamp 21 through a switching device 22 comprising a magnetic amplifier which is saturated by the discharge of a capacitor through a winding 51 by a cold cathode tube 50 triggered each halfcycle. It is stated that within the range of one voltage tap 11, 12, 14, e.g. 210-230v. the capacitor 20 voltage and hence the light output remains sensibly constant.
