Abstract

1,041,935. Centrifugal pumps. M. PATAY, L. PATAY AND P. PATAY. Aug. 4, 1965 [Aug. 31, 1964], No. 35602/64. Heading F1C. In a centrifugal pump having an axial inlet (not shown) and an axially extending outlet 5, the impeller comprises a back plate (not shown) integrally cast with four laterally cantilevered blades 19 each having two leading surfaces 31, 35 and two trailing surfaces 33, 37. Each outlet passage 41, formed by the surface 35 on one blade and the surface 33 on the preceding blade, converges to a throat. The outlet angle measured between a tangent to the trailing end of face 31 and a normal to a radius at that end is 16 degrees. The thickness of the blades slightly increases towards their fixed ends. The ratio of the diameter of the impeller eye 25 to the diameter of the impeller is in the range 0À4 to 0À8. The total area of the outlet passages 41 at their throats is preferably equal to that of the impeller eye.
