Abstract
In the counter-current absorption of HCl from gases also containing Cl2, in electrographite or artificial carbon apparatus, the water to be used for absorption contains hydrogen chloride, whereby corrosion is prevented or reduced. The HCl may be added to the water as an aqueous solution, e.g. by recycling the product. The absorption may be carried out at 80-100 DEG C. and the partial pressure of HCl in the initial solution is preferably not more than 1 mm. Hg.ALSO:In the counter-current absorption of HCl from gases also containing chlorine in electrographite or artificial carbon apparatus, the water to be used for absorption contains hydrogen chloride whereby corrosion is prevented or reduced.
