Abstract

1,040,268. Hammers; hand tool handles. VAUGHAN-BUSHNELL MANUFACTURING CO. March 29, 1965, No. 13228/65. Headings B4C and B4K. A claw hammer comprises a head 10 having an impact portion 14 and a claw portion 22, ribs 60 being formed on the claws in order to prevent vibration. As shown, the head is formed integrally with a steel handle 12 covered with a rubber or leather sheath 40 and provided with a socket 30 filled with a plastic vibration dampening resin 44; alternatively, the socket may be filled with a wooden plug. The hammer head may be separately formed and attached to, a steel or wooden handle.
