Abstract

1,040,083. Locking nuts and bolts; hose couplings. SUPERFLEXIT Ltd. Feb. 17, 1965 [July 21, 1964], No. 29561/64. Headings F2G and F2H. A screw-threaded member, such as a sleeve nut, bolt or end fitting 4 of a hose 5, has at least one hole 3 intersecting the thread and in which is placed a locking insert 2, e.g. of nylon or PTFE or other synthetic resin, to lie proud of the thread crest. The insert 2 is stretched, before lengthwise insertion, so decrease its diameter temporarily. The holes 3 for the inserts 2 may be drilled at a small angle to the axis so that the inserts lie progressively prouder of the thread and their axes may lie in or be inclined to a diametral plane. Hose coupling.-A sleeve nut 1, Figs. 1-3 (not shown), bearing locking inserts 2, Fig. 5, when tightened on to a member 7 causes the end of a hose 5 to be gripped between a nipple 9 and a ferrule 6.
