Abstract

1,039,955. Optical apparatus. GLACES DE BOUSSOIS. April 22,1965 [April 24,1964],No. 17096/65. Heading G2J. [Also in Division G1] The objective 6 of a sighting telescope, optical pyrometer 5 or other optical instrument is protected from a contaminating atmosphere by providing a cylindrical inner tube 1 of substantially the same diameter as objective 6 and a frustoconical outer tube 2 tapering towards tube 1 at its far end and terminating at 14 just short of tube 1, the space 15 between the tubes being supplied with gas under pressure. As shown a gas bottle 23 is connected through filter 25 and pressure-reducing valve 24 to a pipe 22 leading through flexible pipes 21 to a number of inlets 19 of an annular supply chamber 16.
