Abstract

[Also in Division G1] An indicating element 20 can optionally either be driven by a movable member 16 of a measuring instrument, such as a Bourdon gauge, or held in an arrested position by means of an armature 19 fixed on the shaft 18 of the indicating element 20 and urged either against member 16 or against a stationary member 21 depending on which of two magnetizing coils 22, 23 is energized. In a time-delay circuit shown in Fig. 2 an electromagnetic relay A is connected to magnetizing coil 23 and battery B on closure of switch 30. The armature 19 is then arrested. If the key 31 is closed the relay A is actuated and closes contact a 2 . At the same time contact a 1 connects magnetizing coil 22 to battery B so that armature 19 is drawn into the measuring position. As measuring is commenced the relay A is disconnected from the battery and a capacitor C discharges through the winding of relay A and through one of resistors 35 or 36. The magnetizing coil 23 is then switched on by contact a 1 and the indicating element is arrested.
