Abstract

Continuous filament yarn 11 supplied from a freely rotatable bobbin 16 is slubbed, as at 62, by passage through and out of an enclosed turbulent chamber 18 into which compressed air is directed, via one or more openings 36 in a shell 30 and openings 51 and 50 in a jet member 40, counter to the direction of travel of the withdrawn yarn through the fluid inlet. A yarn 100 may also be fed under tension in to chamber 18 to form an unbulked carrier in the resultant composite yarn.
