Abstract

1,034,516. Feeding webs. BETEILIGUNGSUND PATENTVERWALTINGSGESELLSCHAFT. March 11, 1965 [March 12, 1964], No. 10430/65. Heading B6B. A liner web 7 is wound on to a spindle 8 driven by an electric motor 19 via an induction coupling 26 and chain and sprocket gearing 27, 28 and 29. A braking roller 13, mounted in pivoted arms 14, 15 and biased against the spindle 8, is driven by the motor 19 via direct gearing 21 to 25. The gears 24 and 25 may be changed to alter the ratio, or replaced by infinitely variable gearing. The braking roller 13 senses the diameter of the liner web 7 wound on to the spindle 8, and a potentiometer 30 associated therewith is used to regulate the torque of the induction coupling 26. As an alternative the braking roller may contact the surface of the composite web-roll on the spindle 1.
