Abstract
1371112 Rise-and-fall light pendants; cable drums; multiple drum winches H M WOERWAG [trading as BERNHARD DELTSCHAFT] 24 Oct 1972 [1 Dec 1971] 49047/72 Headings B8M and B8B A rise.and-fall illumination device comprises a rise-and-fall light pendant, power means for raising and lowering the pendant, a supply cable one end 6 of which is connected to the pendant and the other end 8 of which is connected to a power supply, a main drum 4 for storing a main length of the cable connected to the pendant, an auxiliary drum 5 for storing an auxiliary length of said cable passing from the main drum 4 to the power supply, the drum 5 having a smaller diameter than the drum 4, the drums 4 and 5 being disposed coaxially in end-to-end relationship on a rotatable shaft, and an adjustable power device 7 for rotating the shaft in either direction which is adjustable with respect to the raising and lowering power means for equalizing the cable unwinding and rewinding speed to the raising and lowering speed of the pendant. The cable may be of circular section and wound in a single layer on the drums or may be of flat section and wound in a plurality of layers. The lengths of cable 6 and 8 may be a unitary length or may be discrete lengths interconnected by a suitable connector.
