Abstract

1,154,253. Feeding webs. SOC. DES ATELIERS DE CONSTRUCTIONS MECANIQUES SEAILLES & TISON. 12 July, 1966 [12 July, 1965], No. 31193/66. Heading B8R. A web tensioning roller 2 is coupled to a driving motor 4 via a belt and pulley system 6 and an electromagnetic powder clutch 3. The motor 4 tends to rotate the roller 2 in the opposite direction to the web feed, thereby tensioning the web. The amount of tension is governed by the degree of slip in the clutch 3 and is proportional to the oscitation which is controlled by a potentiometer or moving roller 21, transducer 22 and controller 23.
