Abstract

1,033,050. Retractive switches. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. Dec.16, 1964, No. 51123/64. Heading H2B. A member 3 mounted on a vehicle steering wheel (not shown) provides an annular fulcrum 3b for a central ring 2 integral with a horn ring 1. An insulating annulus 4 is interposed as shown. The ring 2 is secured to a flange 8 of member 3 by means of bolts 7, screws 10 and an annular disc spring 9. An annular contact 5 is carried by insulating collars 6 on bolts 7. When ring 1 is lifted or depressed at any point the ring 2 pivots about the annular fulcrum 3b and contact 5 closes a horn circuit by engaging a flange 3a on member 3 at a point diametrically opposite to the pivot point, thereby requiring less movement of ring 1 than would be required if the contact point were near the pivot point.
