Abstract

1355969 Inertia switches JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 25 Oct 1971 [10 Nov 1970] 53370/70 Heading H1N A switch for operation by acceleration comprises a cup-shaped body 10 having a contact part 13 on the axis thereof, a second contact part 15 biased towards the first contact part, a ball contact member 19, detent means 17 on one of the contact parts for locating the ball between the contact parts, and annular latching means 14 displaceable axially by movement of the ball away from location between the contact parts, said latching means incorporating a recess 22 which retains the ball when the latter has moved a predetermined distance from the contact parts. As shown, the body 10 is conductive and is closed by a lid 12 of insulating material. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown) the body is of insulating material and a hollow rivet (23) secures the terminal 20 and forms a depression to locate the ball 19; in this case the stem 15 is not provided with depression 17.
