Abstract

Curable coating and sealing compositions comprise (1) a polyglycidyl ether of a polyhydric phenol, and (2) a bituminous mixture of an asphalt and a low-volatile, petroleum fraction boiling at a temperature of at least 270 DEG C. and containing more than 55% by weight of aromatics. The compositions may also contain a natural or synthetic elastomer. The compositions are cured by mixing and reacting with a curing agent for the polyglycidyl ether. Aggregate may be added at any stage before the setting of the mixture of curable composition and curing agent. Many composition components and conventional curing agents are specified. The compositions are useful in constructing roads and airfield runways, coating pipes and offshore drilling rigs, making pottings and castings, and laminating paper and as gasket sealing and roofing compositions.
