Turning-gear.-A starting-mechanism for automobile engines comprises a double rotor dynamo, one rotor C being connected to the engine shaft B, and the other G to the load shaft H. The closing of a switch M supplies current from the buttery L to the machine windings by leads 1, 2, and also by leads 3, 4 to the coil of an electro-magnet R; the movement of the armature Q brings the pawl O into engagement with the wheel N, thereby holding the shaft H and preventing the vehicle from backward movement during the starting period.
