Abstract

Lubricating greases based on synthetic oils or animal or vegetable glycerides contain as thickener one or more lithium soaps of epoxidized unsaturated fatty acids, and optionally not more than 10% by weight, based on the total lithium soap content, of one or more lithium soaps of saturated or unsaturated fatty acids. Typical thickeners are lithium epoxy stearate and lithium epoxy hydroxy stearate. Specified base oils are dioctyl sebacate, hexylene glycol, polyglycol, castor oil, and liver train oil.
