Abstract

A lubricating composition in which the base oil is a mixture of a diester with either a complex ester or a polyalkylene glycol contains either at least two different diphenylamines or at least one diphenylamine and a naphthylamine. Diphenylamines mentioned include phenothiazine and alkyl substituted phenothiazines, p-amino-diphenylamine and di-octyl diphenylamine; whilst naphthylamines mentioned include phenyl a -naphthylamine and a -naphthylamine. Examples of the base oils are given, and in specific examples polymethylsiloxane and a methyl methacrylate/N-vinyl pyrrolidene copolymer are sometimes present as optional ingredients.
