Abstract

1,030,676. Detachably mounting and connecting components. BURNDY CORPORATION. Dec. 4, 1962 [Dec. 12, 1961], No. 45862/62. Heading H2E. A component has contacts, surrounded by a resilient sealing member 40, Figs. 7-11 (not shown), for engagement with printed conductors on a printed circuit board, and has means by which it can be secured to the board. The component 16 may be mounted in a hole 14 in the board 10 and may have peripheral projections, some 34 carrying the contacts and the other 22 including fixing screws, or each serving both purposes. Instead of screws, locking pins may be used and these may pass through the board and into plates which key into the lower part of the component, Fig. 16 (not shown). In another embodiment, Fig. 17 (not shown), one side of the component is slotted to receive the board and the other side has a projection which is screwed to the board and carries the contacts. In other embodiments, Figs. 18-22 (not shown), the component may be secured to a base which is screwed on to the surface of the board and has contacts in its under surface. In all of the arrangements, the contacts are in the form of spring blades which are bent so as to project from the component and the springs are deflected on engagement with the board so that a wiping action takes place. The contacts may be soldered to leads passing through glass seals, Figs. 11 and 22 (not shown).
