1028905 Winding fabric SIR JAMES FARMER NORTON & CO Ltd 18 Nov 1964 [28 Nov 1963] 47115/63 Index B8M 2E M2K A knitted fabric 5 coming from a roll 6 and being dyed in a bath 7 passes through the nip of driven padding mangle rollers 8, 9 to be wound up on a perforated stainless steel drum 11. The drum 11 with the fabric thereon may then be moved to a washing station without further rewinding. The bearings 13 of the drum 11 are movable, e.g. by being mounted on a wheeled frame C, and are urged towards one of the ma mangle rollers 9 by hydraulic, pneumatic, electric solenoid or spring means or, as shown, by weighted cords 16 running over pulleys 17 so that it is driven by the mangle roll and so that an even pressure is applied to the fabric on the drum. In an alternative form the bearings 13 are slidably mounted on rails.
