Abstract

102,856. Jones, J. W. March 9, 1916. Knobs, attaching. - A door knob 1 is secured to its spindle 3 by a nut 6 screwing on to the neck 2 of the knob, and a U-shaped spring clip 4 which bears against shoulders 7 on the nut and engages teeth 9 formed on opposite sides of the spindle. The nut is placed on the spindle and moved into engagement with the recessed centre of the rose 5, the spring clip is placed in position, the knob is passed over the spring clip and spindle until the thread on the neck is in engagement with the thread of the nut, and the knob is finally drawn into position by rotating the nut. An alternative form of spring clip 4<a>, adapted to engage ratchet teeth 9<a> on the spindle, is shown in Fig. 5.
