Abstract

Tracheotomy appliances. -A tracheotomy appliance consists of a tube a provided at the outer end with a flange b and at the inner end with a fixed tongue c and a movable tongue g. The tongue g is carried by a spindle passing through an aperture in t h e thickened portion a' of the tube and provided on the outer end with a nut t e<1>, by means of which the tongue g can be turned into the recess a<2> or into the position shown in the Figure. The spindle has two flat surfaces adapted to be engaged by a flat spring in the bearing, so as to fix the tongue in either position. The outer end of the tube is closed by a cap.
