Abstract

1,025,961. Electric light fittings. WALSALL CONDUITS Ltd. Sept. 13, 1963 [Sept. 14, 1962], No. 35044/62. Heading F4R. A flameproof fitting for a fluorescent discharge tube comprises two terminal portions 10, 11, which house the electric contacts for the tube 35 around which is arranged a transparent cover 12 coaxial with the tube having its ends secured in bushings 13, 14, the bushing 13 being externally screw-threaded to engage a socket 20 in the portion 10 and the bushing 14 being a sliding fit in the portion 11. The portions 10, 11 are connected by tie-rods 15, one end of each being secured in lugs 23 on the portion 10 and the other end of each in a ring 26. The ends of the rods extend beyond the ring and are secured by captive screws 31 on lugs 29 on the portion 11. Housings 16, 17 in the portion 10, 11 contain contact pieces 18, 19 for the pins of the tube 35, the piece 19 being provided with spring- pressed pins 43 bearing on the end of the housing 17. The electric supply leads enter the portions 10, 11 by guides 48.
