Abstract

1,025,513. Counters. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Sept. 27, 1963, No. 38199/63. Heading G4A. If a counter of the type in which only one stage should normally be operative has two or more stages operative then operation of the counter is inhibited. Magnetic cores F1-Fn2 each have setting, bias, output, and resetting windings 1-4, respectively, halfdrive currents being applied to 1 and 2 so that both need to be energized to set a core. The cores are interconnected by flip-flops T1- Tn2, each of which is set to condition 1 by the associated core when set and restored when the next core is set. The odd and even setting windings are energized by anti-phase pulses, respectively, on leads 7, 8 so as to advance the count from an odd to an even stage and vice versa. The last stage is connected to the first to form a ring. The outputs PD of all stages except the first are connected to an inhibit winding 16 on the first core S1 so that if two or more of these stages is operative when shift to the first stage is attempted the counter stops. An alarm may be given. The circuit is set to initial condition by circuit 5.
