Abstract
898,741. Circuits employing bi-stable magnetic cores. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. Aug. 27, 1959 [Aug. 27, 1958], No. 29347/59. Class 40 (9). A bi-stable state trigger circuit suitable for use in a binary counter comprises cores I and II each having input windings for receiving input pulses, and an output winding, means for biasing core II so that it always assumes one state in the absence of signal pulses, and means operable when both cores are in a predetermined state to switch core I to its other state. The circuit shown is initially such that cores I and II are in the +ve and -ve remanant states respectively. The onset of the first input pulse, applied at E, changes over the cores to the -ve and +ve states respectively. The output voltages from windings SI and SII are of opposite polarity and cancel out. When the first pulse ceases the bias winding V causes core II to revert to the -ve state. When the second pulse starts core II is changed over to the +ve state. The unopposed voltage from SII now causes transistor Tr to conduct and the output current changes core I to the +ve state. When the second pulse ceases core II is returned to the -ve state by its bias winding V. The transistor thus applies one output pulse to the load Ra for every two input pulses. A plurality of these circuits may be connected in cascade to form a multi-stage binary counter.
