881,759. Magnetic amplifier selector circuits ; automatic-exchange systems. COMPAGNIE INDUSTRIELLE DES TELEPHONES. Oct. 27, 1958 [Oct. 28, 1957], No. 34335/58. Classes 40 (4) and 40 (9). A magnetic amplifier selection circuit comprises magnetic amplifier R1 . . . Rn, Fig. 1, each provided with a positive feed-back winding ell . . . enl to make it bistable, whose outputs are fed in parallel to the back-biasing windings el5 . . . en5 of all the magnetic amplifiers. Each magnetic amplifier is provided with control windings such as e13, e14 tending to switch it on and off respectively, and a biasing winding a 12 so supplied that the bistable characteristic of amplifier and positive feed-back winding is as shown in Fig. 2. On a control current being fed to a winding e13 say, the amplifier moves from point O to point P1 on its characteristic, whereupon the output current flowing through e15 e25 . . . . en5 moves the first amplifier back to point P2 and the remainder such as R2 back to point A1 from which point the amplifier R2 cannot be operated by a control current in winding e23. If two amplifiers are operated simultaneously the two outputs combined, operating in coils e15 . . . en5 move the operating point of the operated amplifiers to the point O whereupon both are de-energized. With both control coils still operated, the fastest operating amplifier then operates to block the other as described above. The equipment may be used to select one of a number of calling circuits, or one of a number of free lines in a given direction in an automaticexchange system.
