Abstract

1,025,262. Switchgear structures. ELECTRO MECHANICAL MANUFACTURING CO. Ltd. July 23, 1962 [April 27, 1961], No. 15251/61. Heading H2B. A withdrawable unit 2 of a cubicle switchgear carries the movable contact blades 18 of an on-load isolating switch 17 which are engageable with fixed contacts 20 on a fixed portion of the cubicle and are operable manually to completely isolate the unit from the power source before withdrawal of the unit 2. For electric motor control the isolating switch has six poles: three connecting the unit to incoming cables 22 and three to outgoing cables 23 and the unit 2 also carries an electromagnetic contactor 4; indicator 10; start and stop switches 8, 9 and fuses 5, 7. The switch 17 is operable by a handle 26 mounted on a stub shaft journalled in a front cover-plate 25 and spring-urged into engagement with a shaft 14 of the switch. The handle is withdrawable against the spring when in its off position and can then be rotated beyond the off position to unlock plate 25 so that it can be removed and the unit 2 withdrawn. A cubicle switchgear may have a plurality of the withdrawable units 2.
