Abstract
1,200,857. Switchgear structures. MERLIN GERIN. 18 Feb., 1969 [12 March, 1968], No. 8672/69. Heading H1N. In a switchboard comprising a plurality of superposed cubicles; each cubicle contains a retractable multipolar electrical device e.g. a polyphase switch 16, which is pivotal about an axis 30 between an inserted and a retracted position; each pole of the device comprises two terminals one of which is electrically connected to a respective contact of one set of movable contacts 34, 34<SP>1</SP>, 34<SP>11</SP>, 34<SP>111</SP> and the other of which is connected to a respective contact of another set of movable contacts, only one contact 54 of this set being visible; the two sets of movable contacts are movable with the electrical device and co-operate with corresponding sets of fixed contacts e.g. 24, -24<SP>111</SP> and 56- in the inserted position; and the contacts of set 34, 34<SP>1</SP>, 3411, 34<SP>111</SP> are spaced apart in a direction perpendicular to the axis of rotation 30 and the contacts of the set, e.g. 54 are spaced apart in a direction parallel to the axis 30. The contact set 24-24<SP>111</SP> is formed by vertically extending horizontally spaced busbars which are mounted in a vertically extending compartment 22 common to a column of cubicles. The contact set, e.g. 56 &c. comprises vertically spaced fixed contacts which are connected to cables 60 which extend vertically through aligned apertures in corners 62 of the superposed cubicles. A spring biased shutter 38 isolates bus-bars 24-24<SP>111</SP> when the electrical device 16 is retracted and is provided with an indicating extension 41 which projects from the switchboard when the shutter is in its isolating position. The shutter 38 is moved from the isolating position by the engagement of a pin 42 on a pivoted panel 28 carrying the movable set of contacts 34-34<SP>111</SP> with a cam surface 40 when the electrical device is moved to its inserted position. As shown the panel 28 and door 32 are integral, but they may be independently pivoted. The door handle 50 may be interlocked with the operating knob 48 of the electrical switch 16.
