Abstract
1,023,184. Telephone instruments. PYE Ltd. Oct. 9, 1963 [Oct. 19, 1962], No. 39571/62. Heading H4J. In a telephone instrument, a supporting structure comprises a horizontal platform 2, an extension 3 and a bracket 10 formed integrally with one another, the extension 3 supporting a ringing solenoid 6 and the bracket 10 extending vertically from the platform 2 to support a cradle switch 12. The structure 2, 3, 10 is attached (e.g. by screws) to a base which may be part of the instrument casing. The structure 2, 3, 10 is preferably of ferromagnetic material. The extension 3 is bifurcated and has fixed to it, by a nut 4, one end of the core 5 of the solenoid 6. A further integral extension 7 is provided at the opposite end of the platform 2 and lies opposite a polepiece 8 provided at the free end of the core 5. A permanently magnetized armature 9 is adapted to vibrate between polepiece 8 and extension 7. Bracket 10, together with a further bracket 11, constitutes a frame which supports the cradle switch 12 and a pivot for a cradle lever 13. This is operated by plungers from the hand-set cradle (not shown). The upper end of the bracket 10 provides a fixing for a lug on a dial mechanism (not shown). A bracket 14 fixed to the platform 2 serves as a support to which the armature 9 and its strikes are flexibly connected by a leaf spring (not shown).
