Abstract

1,023,182. Reciprocating pumps and motors, compressers. R. BREINLICH. Oct. 12, 1962 [Oct. 13, 1961], No. 38652/62. Headings F1A and FIN. A rotary radial cylinder fluid pump or motor has pivoted slippers fitted to the pistons in such a way that the pivot connections at least partly enter the cylinder during reciprocation. The slipper is fitted with a spherical or cylindrical member 3 and has a narrowed bar 4 which allows for pivoting movement in the channel 10. When fitted, the spherical member is held in the piston by a resilient ring 63 (Figs. 26, 29, not shown). The slipper has transverse extension members 6 (Fig. 1, not shown) and/or tangential extension members 17 which may have guide faces 7, 8 engaging retaining rings 42, 43 (Fig. 22, not shown). The eccentricity of the rings may be variable and preferably they rotate with the rotor. A balancing recess 23 and chamber 22 are provided in the piston and slipper. In an alternative embodiment, the slippers are made up from a number of parts (Figs. 8-20, not shown).
