Abstract

1335026 Reciprocating pumps and motors JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 19 April 1971 [3 April 1970] 15808/70 Heading F1A A rotary hydraulic machine comprises a rotor 17 rotatable on a pintle 12 attached to a casing 10, 11. A plurality of pistons 19 are reciprocal in radial bores 18 in the rotor 17. An annular body 22 is located within the casing and its inner face is engaged by slippers 21 attached to pistons 19, and is also engaged by balls 24, 25 in recesses 26, 27 connected to servo-pressure control conduits 28, 29. A spring 30 biases ball 24 against body 22. This force biases the body 22 in a clockwise direction about a pin 23 held in the casing, thus locating the body 22 eccentrically of the pintle 12 and rotor 17. If sufficient pressure acts on ball 25 the body 22 is biased anti-clock wise to change its eccentricity. Thus, if the machine is used as a pump, the delivery can be varied.
