Abstract

1,022,161. Drawing; winding and reeling. MARSHALL RICHARDS MACHINE CO. Ltd. Dec. 31, 1962 [Jan. 1, 1962], No. 23/62. Headings B3E and B3P. A tube drawing machine comprises a drawing block mounted for rotation about a horizontal axis, the block being supported at one end only and having a pulling-in dog located at the supported end. The block 1, gear-box 2 and driving motor 3 are located in a pit 4 and the upper circumferential surface of the block projects above floor level. The block 1 is supported at one end in bearings incorporated in the gear-box and at the other end has a pulling-in dog of the kind described in Specification 894,541. Tube to be drawn is pulled off a swift 9 by straightening rolls, passes through a die 12 and on to the block 1. The swift and die are mounted on a carriage 8 for movement parallel to the axis of the block, by means of an hydraulic ram 13. When the block is full, rams 18 push the coil off the block on to a take-up rod 15 which transfers the coils to a conveyer 16 which returns them to the swift 9 for subsequent drawing operations.
