1321500 Straightening MALMEDIE & CO MASCHINENFABRIK GmbH 10 Aug 1971 [25 Nov 1970] 37525/71 Heading B3E Wire 3 is fed from a drawing drum 2 to a machine 5 e.g. a wire-peeling machine by passing the wire through a pair of driving rolls 12, 12a and straightening rolls 16, 17 & 18, the driving and straightening rolls being mounted on a common frame 21 which is pivotable about an axis 12b extending parallel to the rotational axis of the drum. In operation the leading end of the wire is passed through a drawing die 4 and wound on to the drum 2. When 10-20 turns of wire have collected on the drum, the leading end of the wire is fed past a roller 10 and vertical guide rolls 11, where upon the drum is stopped and the frame 21 pivotally adjusted until the wire can be manually inserted between the rolls 12, 12a. The upper roll 12a is then pressed against the wire and the drive of the rolls started so that the wire is fed into the gap between straightening rolls 15, 17 and 18 whereupon the roll 18 is pressed against the wire. As the wire is moved towards the wire peeling machine 5, the frame 21 is pivoted into the horizontal position so that the wire is fed between driving rolls of the machine 5, the roll 12a being lifted as soon the wire is gripped by the driving rolls of the machine.
