Abstract
1,021,675. Moulding confectionery. AFICO S.A. Dec. 12, 1962 [Dec. 13, 1961], No. 46942/62. Heading B5A. Fillings for chocolates, jellies, bonbons and fondants are moulded by filling the material into a series of bottomless cavities formed through rigid moulds 5, which are carried between two endless chains 1 and engage a belt 3 during part of their run in which the mould cavities are filled (Figs. 4a, 4b) and the contents cooled (Fig. 1, not shown) and are subsequently lifted off the belt (Fig. 4d) leaving the moulded articles thereon. The belt 3 may be supported beneath by wooden slats 10 (Fig. 3), carried by a second pair of chains 2, one slat 10 under each mould 5 over that part of the run where the moulds contact the belt. Remoulding may be assisted by mechanical, electrical or pneumatic means and by the upward converging shape of the cavity walls and a polytetrafluoroethylene lining of the cavities. The belt 3 may have a plastic coating to enhance adhesion to the moulded articles.
