Abstract

1,020,921. Gearing elements &c. J. J. RIGBY. May 2, 1962 [May 3, 1961], No. 16109/61. Heading F2Q. [Also in Division G2] Film-strip feeding mechanism for use in projection apparatus comprises a drive spindle having a disc mounted thereon carrying a series of circumferentially spaced pins and a solenoid operated ratchet arm for driving said spindle in stepwise manner. Two solenoid operated ratchet arms may be provided for driving the spindle in opposite directions. As shown, the core 6 of a solenoid 4 is pivotally attached to a ratchet arm 8 having a claw 9 for engagement in turn with pins 10 and a disc 12<SP>1</SP> for driving a spindle 13. The ratchet arm is returned under spring loading. The disc is resiliently held against unintentional movement by a spring detent device 22, 23. A second solenoid operated ratchet device 5, 6<SP>1</SP>, 9<SP>1</SP> is provided.. The spindle 13 is connected to film transport sprockets by way of a friction clutch whereby, with the disc 12<SP>1</SP> locked (as shown) by the notch 25, film at the picture gate may be framed by manual rotation of a knob on the end of the spindle 13.
