Abstract

1,020,895. Knitting. SCHUBERT & SALZER MASCHINENFABRIK A.G. Oct. 24,1962 [Jan. 11,1962],No. 40237/62. Addition to 997,242. Headings D1C and D1K. [Also in Division F2]. A rotary cylinder knitting machine, with at least two feeds, comprises a disc 1 and an adjacent disc-shaped cam 2, rotating at the same speed as the needle cylinder, one of which is moved gradually relative to the other so as to vary the protrusion of the cam 2 and hence its effect on a follower connected with means for controlling the stitch length at one side of the needle cylinder 20 as to vary it smoothly in the wale and weft directions to produce a bulge in the fabric. As shown, cam 2 has slots 112 through which pass screws 111 secured to disc 1 which is carried on a hub 310 on a shaft 11 rotating at the same speed as the needle cylinder. Cam 2 is slid on screws 111 by a cylindrical cam 100 keyed on shaft 11 moved by a dog 101 carried on a tube 105 slidable on a shaft 103.Tube 105 is biased into engagement with a tubular cam which is secured to shaft 103 so that as the latter is turned cam 100 is moved along the shaft 11. Shaft 103 is turned by a ratchet wheel and can be latched in various positions (see parent Specification); Followers RI,RII,RIII and RIV Fig.4 (not shown) are arranged around cam 2 and are connected through bell-cranks 8I, 8II, 8III and 8IV with stitch cams.
