Abstract
1,020,776. Handles for floor treating machines. R. G. DIXON CO. Ltd. Sept. 10, 1964 [Sept. 10, 1963], No. 35714/63. Heading B4K. In a floor treating machine comprising one or more brushes rotatable about vertical axes, the pivoted handle is lockable in a plurality of operating positions by means of a retractable tongue 7 on the handle which is selectively engageable with any one of a plurality of recesses 6 in the machine. The tongue 7 has a threaded shank which co-operates with an internally threaded manually rotatable wheel 9 which is axially restrained in the yoke 2 by a fixing bracket 10 secured to the yoke. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), a strip of metal is welded to a shaft 14 which is rockable about an axis parallel with the pivoted axis of the fork. The forward part 7 of the tongue is spring-loaded into engagement with the recesses 6. The rear part of the strip makes contact with and is operated by the pedal 16 which releases the transport wheels, the pedal being depressed for release of the wheels from either the raised or lowered position. The tongue may be retained in the retracted position by a thumb screw engaged in a part welded to the strip.
