Abstract
101,916. Sanderson, G. W. March 11, 1916. Wave energy, utilizing. - Hinged floats 30, Fig. 2, actuated by the waves are carried by a rectangular frame 1 which is guided by cross-pieces 29 running between piles 6<1>, 6<11>. The frame is kept horizontal and on the surface of the water by three sets of pulleys and ropes, one set consisting of the pulleys 33 - - 36 and a rope 37, and the other two sets consisting of ropes 11 - - 14 running over pullems 15, 20, 20<1>, 21, 18 to tanhs 16, 19 supplied with water through pipes 22, 23 and containing weights 38. Taps 26, 27 enable the water to be drawn off. The motion of the floats 30 rotates a shaft 32, Figs. 2 and 6, by means of a weighted rope 41, which is attached to a rocking lever 46 carrying a pawl 49 engaging with a ratchet-wheel 48 on the shaft. The rope 41 is kept of the right length by ratchet mechanism 50, 51, the pawl of which may be tripped by striking the stop 56.
