Abstract

1,016,600. Magnetrons. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 27, 1964 [April 30, 1963], No. 17295/64. Heading H1D. In a resonant cavity magnetron having first and second polepieces and a helical wire cathode surrounded by an anode, the cathode supply conductors are in the form of a coaxial line which passes to the interior through the first pole-piece; the output conductors are arranged at, and the anode segments are alternately connected to two circular conductors at, the end of the anode segments remote from the first pole-piece; and the cathode penetrates less than halfway into the space between the anode segments and the second polepiece. Annularly arranged anode segments 13 form resonant cavities 14 and an interaction space 9 housing a cathode 3 connected at its ends to a plate 5, mounted on the end of the central conductor 6, and to the flange of the tube 2, which passes through one of the polepieces 10, and is supported by a conical insulator 7. The output conductor 23 is connected to a transverse connection 15 between the anode segments bounding two successive resonant cavities, and passes through tube 19 to terminate in a tube 24, which may be coupled to a coaxial line or waveguide and is supported by a conical insulator 25. Alternate anode segments are connected to conductors 16 and 17 which pass through the groove 18 of each segment.
